The National Public Records Research Association held its 2018 Annual Conference on Thursday, September 27 – Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta hotel in Atlanta, GA. The conference offered attendees information on the latest legislative issues, tips on getting the best results for their companies, and the opportunity to broaden their scope of knowledge regarding public records research. There were also nightly opportunities to network and socialize with colleagues while exploring the fun city of Atlanta.

The Bellwether Effect explores how and why leaders are attracted to, and seduced by, trendy ideas, and the process by which these ideas then become mainstream. Speaker Lance Secretan calls the originators of these trends “bellwethers.” Secretan shared eight examples of counterproductive business practices and proposed novel and inspiring alternatives that could lead to transformation and an inspiring culture.

Modernization of A Centuries-Old Office – The Notarial Act

Technology’s tentacles are reaching out to the traditional notarial act as US states explore legislation authorizing remote/online notarial acts. Attendees examined legislative adoption across the US and discussed the differences between the traditional paper notarization and the remote/online act.

This was the hottest networking event of the year! As NPRRA conference attendees consistently express, networking is one of the key ingredients to the success of their careers. At this event, attendees were provided customized schedules to help maximize their connections.
Attract, Lead, & Retain Millennials: Proven Strategies to Enhance Millennial Performance and Engagement

Millennials are highly disengaged at work and are leaving companies because of it. Only 29% of employed Millennials are engaged at work and only 50% of Millennials plan to be working at their company 1 year from now. Optimize the largest generation in the workforce. Ryan equiped leaders and managers with proven and practical strategies to dramatically improve the managing, recruiting, retention, and engagement of Millennials. While they bring valuable skills, insights, and ambition to the workplace, they are often a source for tension among experienced leaders and managers. Ryan shared relevant data and innovative insights to better understand what drives Millennial employee performance. Blockchain Technology

The Delaware Blockchain Initiative was launched in 2016. In 2017, the Delaware General Corporation Law was amended to enable “blockchain shares” and other uses of blockchain technology by Delaware corporations. In 2018, similar amendments to Delaware’s LLC and other alternative entity statutes were enacted. This program provided a brief, general introduction to blockchain technology and an overview of the Delaware Blockchain Initiative, describing the recent statutory amendments, reviewing practical issues from both transactional and litigation perspectives, and discussing next steps.
